Day By Day

Day By Day

It is possible that there are singers alive today with more passion, conviction and beauty than Yolanda Adams working in gospel today, but it’s doubtful. It’s been a full four years since the glory-giving soprano has released a new album of her own music, and it’s actually worth the wait. The banging funk tunes are tight and righteous, while the ballads will knock you clean off your feet.

The Great Divorce Reviews

C.S. Lewis takes us on a profound journey through both Heaven and Hell in this engaging, allegorical tale. Using his extraordinary descriptive powers, Lewis introduces us to supernatural beings who will change the way we think about good and evil. The Great Divorce is C.S. Lewis’s Divine Comedy: the narrator bears strong resemblance to Lewis (by way of Dante); his Virgil is the fantasy writer George MacDonald; and upon boarding a bus in a nondescript neighborhood, the narrator is taken to Heaven and Hell.

Becky Kelley: Where’s the Line to See Jesus – Official Music Video

While at the mall a few years ago, Becky’s then four year old nephew, Spencer, saw kids lined up to see Santa Claus. Having been taught as a toddler that Christmas is the holiday that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus, he asked his mom, “Where’s the line to see Jesus?”

How to Conqeur the Stress and Insanity of Christmas Day

My wife and I raised three children and while it would be a stretch to say that we enjoyed every minute of it, we wouldn’t have changed anything. One thing that we did change was the stress, insanity and the overwhelming highs and lows of “Christmas Day”.

Tenth Avenue North: You Are More

Tenth Avenue North: You Are More

We’ve all heard it said that music is the universal language, and it’s so true. No other vehicle more powerfully captures our collective hopes and fears or more poignantly celebrates our dreams and triumphs. With one listen to the music of Tenth Avenue North, it becomes obvious that songwriter Mike Donehey and his bandmates have a gift for expressing truth in a way that simultaneously educates, enlightens and entertains.

A Four Letter Word That the Foulest Mouth Will not Repeat

People talk about drunken sailors being the most foul-mouthed people in the world. I wouldn’t know, I’ve never been a drunken sailor nor have I met one. But I do know a four letter word that I rarely hear anyone repeat no matter how loose they are with their tongue. In fact I’ll wager that you rarely if ever have used this word yourself, especially with any personal reference, no matter how tough life gets.

Do you want to know what simple four letter word brings kings and princes, the mightiest and boldest to their knees?

Faith at Work: How to Deal with Job Loss in a Faith-Centered Way

Millions of people have lost their jobs as a result of this recession. You may be one of them. While the stock market has shown some positive movement, it’s unclear whether things will genuinely improve soon or if the rally we’ve seen is a false one.

So how does a person of faith deal with the loss of their job and not lose their faith?

How to Organize a Church – The New Testament Church

The Greek word from which we get the term church is ekklesia. It is in the New Testament that we see this term come to have its technical sense of a group of people who have gathered for the purpose of instruction and worship. It is used in the broadest sense of the universal church – that body of all believers in Christ from Pentecost to the rapture e.g. ‘I will build my church’ Matthew 16:18. In another facet of meaning it could be used of believers in a certain city e.g. Revelation 1-3. It was also used in the New Testament to describe those believers meeting in one location Romans 16:3-5.

The Radical Question: What Is Jesus Worth to You? Reviews

It’s easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, Jesus said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily…but who do you know who lives like that? Do you?

Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? (Full Screen Edition)

The answer is different for each of the four couples featured in this relationship comedy, which includes Janet Jackson as a psychologist whose own marriage is on shaky ground. Not known for subtlety, Perry hammers in the point that no marriage is perfect–just as no one is completely blameless. Even when he presents a thoughtless husband who cheats on his wife with her hot best friend, he doesn’t present the wife as a helpless martyr.
