Old Testament Is Just As Inspired As New Testament. So Why Do So Many Ignore it?

The Old Testament lays the foundation for the teachings and events found in the New Testament. First, the Old Testament is of great importance to Christians because it is inspired of God (2 Tim. 3.16-17). Some Christians ignore the Old Testament and focus on the New, but only those who read the New in light of the Old can really learn what God is saying in His Word. The Old Testament provides a fore shadow of the blessing revealed in the New Testament (Hebrews 10: 1).

How Does One Get Into the Church Christ Built?

The individual who complies with the conditions that God gave will be added by God to the church for the same process that makes one a Christian adds him to the church when done from the heart. Only God can know whether or not one truly believes in Jesus from his heart. Only God can know if a man has repented from the heart of his sins. These things being true a man can by all appearances go through the steps essential to salvation but God only knows the sincerity of the heart. I cannot add you to the church even if you by all appearances seem to meet God’s qualifications. Since I cannot know or judge your heart I have to assume your sincerity and honesty and accept you as a child of God, a living stone in God’s church. I would want the same treatment from you. A faithful Christian will never deny such a one the right hand of fellowship.

The authors of the New Testament did not deliberately try to create a Christian Bible. The early church already had a Bible, the Old Testament of Judaism. However, differing views of Christian faith during the A.D. 100′s led the church to form the New Testament canon. It needed the canon as authority against unacceptable religious views. The church also wanted to preserve the authentic story of Jesus’ life and death.

That’s what some say to do and if it only has to do with some negative events or a little stress or pressure in your life, then sure we can all suck it up and move on. But what about that gut punch that drops you to your knees mentally and emotionally what do you do then?

Does Anybody Really Care?

Nehemiah was the kind of person who cared. He cared about the traditions of the past and the needs of the present. He cared about the hopes for the future. He cared about his heritage, his ancestral city, and the glory of his God.

Nehemiah broke down and cried when he heard that Jerusalem walls still had not been rebuilt. Why did this upset him? Walls mean little in most present day cities, but in Nehemiah’s day they were essential. Nehemiah was deeply grieved about the condition of Jerusalem. After his grief he poured out his heart to God and looked for ways to improve the situation.
